Biggest competitor: habit

The competitor that many early stage entrepreneurs miss is "doing nothing". Here's a great quote on the subject from 37Signals, from their blog piece about the Wired Mag article about them. It's in the context of why they don't think millions of VC money would help them compete with the "big boys", because no number of millions is going to help them compete with this:

"We think our biggest competitor is habit—people using the phone, email, paper, pencils, post-it notes, and fax machines. These are the people we want to win over. We believe the simple software we’re building is the best way to do it." LINK
